Local students imagine the future

CPB Contractors, as part of Transport for NSW’s M6 Stage 1 delivery team, engaged local students from Brighton-Le-Sands Public School to draw and share their visions for the future of Bicentennial Park. The delivery team compiled these artworks to form an impactful piece of public art that covers the hoarding of construction sites across the project.

The uniquely designed hoarding is 1.2m high and runs for approximately 400 metres around the Bicentennial Park construction site; 200 metres along a public walkway connecting the school to West Botany Street, and 200 metres down part of West Botany Street.

To commemorate the installation, the project team hosted a special event for students, school leaders and their families which included a morning tea meet-and-greet, a site tour and an unveiling ceremony.

Acting CPB Contractors Community and Stakeholder Engagement Manager Paige Moreno said it was a great privilege to be able to celebrate with the students, parents and teachers from Brighton-Le-Sands-Public School and incorporate their vision into the revitalised parkland and public space.

“The look of joy on the faces of the students was amazing, and the parents were so proud to have their children’s artwork featured on our hoarding,” added Paige.

“Many of the students who attended will be finishing primary school the same year that we complete our project. We hope to invite them back to our site when we take down the hoarding and unveil the new and improved Bicentennial Park.”

CPB Contractors is currently delivering the M6 Stage 1 in a joint venture with UGL and Ghella. The project includes the delivery of an underground motorway connection between President Ave, Kogarah and the M8, mainline tunnels, exit/entry ramps, and shared cycle and pedestrian pathways.
